A team of Limkokwing staff and students took part in this year’s Sibebe Survivor Corporate Hike, an annual event that sees all proceedings going to charity.

The hike, which is one of the largest events in the country, was attended by over 5000 people from private companies, non-governmental organisations (NGO’s), and individuals who were all vying to make it to the rock summit and back.

The event’s organising club supports various charity projects around the country, including the Rotary Health Club, Mpolonjeni water project, several orphanages and high schools.

Sibebe rock is the world’s second largest granite rock. It is situated on Pine Valley road, and stands at 199 metres high, characterised by a distinctively smooth, dome-shaped face and surface area. The Sibebe trail leading to the rock summit boasts scenic expanses of rocky caves, water springs and captivating rock formations. From the summit, parts of Mbabane are visible, including surrounding areas in Pine Valley and Mbuluzi.

The Limkokwing Swaziland team, distinct in the University’s signature black, started the hike enthusiastically and kept on despite the challenges they faced throughout the trek. Once back at the start-point, refreshments were served and awards of recognition were presented.

Participating in the event was another effort by Limkokwing University to give back to the public though raising funds for charity. The University, which is located in three continents across the world, holds charity work at great value, having taken part in many projects both in Swaziland and internationally. Through the ‘Heal the world’ club, the University’s charity wing dedicated at raising funds and providing relief for those in need worldwide, the University had raised funds for many important campaigns, some in war torn countries.
