Limkokwing University Swaziland held its third graduation ceremony at Mavuso Trade Centre on 13 October.
It was a long-awaited day for the University’s 728 graduates. It was the culmination of their hard work, mistakes, challenges and dreams.
Themed ‘The Future Is Now In Your Hands’, the ceremony saw the attendance of His Royal Highness Prince Hlangusemphi who was His Majesty King Mswati III’s representative.
Other special guests included the Mayor of Manzini, Honourable Khethokuhle Dlamini; Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ms. Lindiwe Dlamini; a Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Mbuso Dlamini and Mr. Owen Nxumalo from the Ministry of Education.
On behalf of Limkokwing University’s Founder and President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing, Professor Cedric Bell congratulated the Class of 2016 and acknowledged that they have been worthy representatives of the University.
“We have vivid and inspiring memories of your contribution as choir members and student ambassadors. During your time with us, the global standing of the University has been further enhanced by a myriad of achievements of which two, in the last year, merit specific mention,” he said.
“Secondly, our industry-centric model of delivery was recognised by a leading UK accreditation body when they conferred upon us the accolade of Global TVET Model University.”
He also mentioned that Limkokwing is consistently among the top six universities in Facebook and Twitter.
During his address, HRH Prince Hlangusemphi said Limkokwing University is an established global player that is exponentially increasing its academic footprint across the African continent. “The fact that many other African nations want Limkokwing to establish international campuses in their countries is compelling evidence of the appropriateness of their courses and educational philosophy,” he said.
He said Limkokwing University graduates are the nation’s hope as they have a part to play in the ongoing transformation of the Kingdom of Swaziland.
Special awards were presented to thirty students for their excellent participation in academic, industry and extracurricular activities.
The awards were under the following categories: Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka Dr Lim Kok Wing Award for Creativity and Innovation, Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka Dr Lim Kok Wing Award for Leadership, MK Award for Entrepreneurship, University Colours Award for Command Performance and the Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka Dr Lim Kok Wing Award for Academic Excellence.
