Official Opening of Limkokwing London
The opening of Limkokwing London marked the first time a Malaysian University had succeeded in penetrating the market in the United Kingdom.
It was also the first Asian and Commonwealth country to set up a university and deliver its degrees in the country.
The campus was launched by the former Prime Minister, YABhg Tun Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi on 1 October 2007 who flew from New York to London to officiate the ceremony after attending the United Nations General Assembly there.
The launch received positives feedbacks from the British community especially the media. It has opened a new chapter in globalization.
"Asian rival in London is latest wake-up call for UK about harsh realities of globalization," reported The Times Higher, United Kingdom.
Also present during the ceremony were Professor Dr. Michael Thorne, Vice Chancellor or University of Anglia Ruskin, United Kingdom and Dato' Neville Green, the Chairman of the British Malaysia Society.
