The Merah Putih Club held a two days FIFA games tournament on the 3rd to the 4th October. The competition was open to all Limkokwing University students, with a RM300 grand prize.
The tournament, a virtual soccer game on PS3 had competitors battling each other to get to the top of the league, and ultimately win the prize money.
The event started early in the morning, with a number of students gathering to show their skills and passion. The tournament was aimed at giving soccer lovers an opportunity to share their passion, experience, and love for football while they enjoyed themselves. It promoted the spirit of unity and togetherness among the students through a shared interest.
At the end of the tournament, Belal Wahide from Jordan was crowned champion of the tournament, walking away with the RM300 grand prize, while Ridho Mulachela from Indonesia came in second, taking home RM200, followed by Mohammed Azzam from Maldives, who won RM100 in the third place. On top of their prize money, the winners walked away with a ‘FIFA13 Tournament’ certificate announcing them as the champions.
Merah Putih, two Indonesian words ‘Merah’ meaning red, and ‘Putih’ meaning white, which are the colours of the Indonesian flag, is an Indonesian students’ organisation catering for Indonesian students in Limkokwing.
It organises events and promotes Indonesian culture. Some of their events included the Merah Putih monthly bazaar, selling Merah Putih merchandise, books, accessories, clothes, CDs, snacks, drinks and many other trinkets. They also organised the Monophone, a musical competition which this year saw the winner walk away with RM1000.
