Limkokwing University Botswana hosted a vibrant and engaging two-day orientation to welcome a fresh batch of students into the new academic year.
Themed “The Take Off: Yonder into Creativity & Innovation”, the orientation was meant to give students an understanding of the University and its philosophy on a broader perspective. It was also to inform them about the support services available on campus as well as create opportunities for new students to interact with staff.
The two-day programme included creative ice breakers to assist students in getting to know each other, inspirational testimonies by successful Limkokwing Alumni such as TV & Radio Personality Resego Motlhokathari and Award-winning Fashion Designer Delayna Scott, who shared their learning experiences at the institution and how the University played a major role in designing their careers.
Delivering welcome remarks, Limkokwing Director for Academic Management Ms. Onalenna Phambuka said, “Today, I want you to know that the entire University community is here to support, sustain and encourage you as you commit to study with us. We could not be more excited or privileged to welcome you into this vibrant and tech-savvy ecosystem. It is you who make us who we are, and we look forward to the fresh ideas and energies that you are bringing into our campus.”
The University’s Head of Public Relations Mercy Rebaone Thebe stated that Limkokwing University is committed to supporting new students in their transition from secondary school to university both inside and outside the classroom. “The goal of our new student orientation is to successfully integrate new students into the intellectual, social and cultural climate of the Limkokwing Botswana Campus community,” she added.
New students expressed gratitude to the University, for organising the two-day orientation saying it assisted them in learning about the University’s history, vision and achievements.
They also stated that they look forward to learning new skills using the specialised equipment they were shown during the campus tour, and look forward to graduating as Botswana’s next e-generation.
