RetroSpective: Graduate Showcase Celebrating Creativity and Technology
12 June 2023
The recent student exhibition, titled “RetroSpective” was a showcase of the incredible talent, hard work, and dedication of 98 students from the Faculty of Creative Technology. From design to information technology, the exhibition featured a range of projects that pushed the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
The exhibition was a testament to the students’ ability to think outside the box and come up with unique solutions to complex problems. The projects on display were diverse, ranging from interactive installations to web design, and from data visualisation to mobile app development. Despite the varied focus areas, there were several notable themes and trends that emerged – some focusing on climate change, others on cultural diversity, and even one on neuro-divergence.
One of the most impressive projects on display was a blend of digital and tactile experience that allowed users to explore different canvases of painted eyes. The project, created by Maldha Mohamed (Bachelor (Hons) of Arts in Creative Multimedia), featured stunning visuals and intricate details that merged the worlds of digital and practical fine art. Other noteworthy projects included a web design project that showcased the beauty and diversity of different cultures, an interactive installation that explored the intersection of art and technology, and a social media platform that connected users with local volunteer opportunities.
The impact of the exhibition was clear from the reactions of attendees, who were impressed by the students’ creativity, innovation, and dedication. In his speech, Vice Chancellor Professor Abdul Jamal Abdul Hamid imparted these heartfelt words, “I believe you have maximised your efforts to produce excellent and outstanding words to be viewed, evaluated and examined by the academicians and professionals from the industry.”
In conclusion, the recent student exhibition was a testament to the incredible talent and hard work of 98 students from a variety of design and IT disciplines. The projects on display were thought-provoking, inspiring, and demonstrated knowledgeable application of skills from their respective fields. We can’t wait to see what they will achieve in the future.
