Event management students soar at first industry project

7 September 2012

On 6 July 2012, Event Management students from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Swaziland held a promotional event at the Limkokwing University Multi-Purpose Hall. This was a very special occasion for the students as they were marking the start of their work in the field.

Several senior high school pupils from around the country were invited to experience the warmth of the Limkokwing University brand. The event was also used to market Limkokwing University Swaziland.

The event began at 11:00am and was attended by high school pupils from four schools: Mater Dolorosa High School, Herman Gmeiner High School, Saint Mark’s High School and SAIM Christian High School.

Dedicated event industry lecturer, Philip Moremi was amongst those who attended the event. Limkokwing University Heads of Departments and Management also attended the event.

The event began as scheduled and upon arrival at the MPH, the visiting high school students were welcomed by the Event Management students while the Limkokwing worldwide anthem; “Wings to Fly”, played in the background.

With this event, the students’ aimed at adding to Limkokwing University’s impact and visibility in the country. They succeeded in motivating the invited students to study hard, so that they too can join Limkokwing University to further their studies.

With this event, the students succeeded in changing negative perceptions about Limkokwing University; the visiting students were briefed about Limkokwing University’s approach to educating about creativity, innovation and technological advancement. Limkokwing University Swaziland’s diverse courses were showcased and the visiting students were briefed on courses that are in both private and non-private sectors.

The students’ objective of hosting promotional events at the Limkokwing University MPH began well with this event as it afforded them the opportunity to invite students from high schools around the Mbabane city. The event presented the hosting students an opportunity to brief the invited students on the experiences of pursuing studies at Limkokwing University.

All expenses related to this event were catered for by the hosts, who contributed money for budgeted expenses.

Teamwork during preparations and the actual event led to its success. All 11 members of the Events Management team had clear and specific roles during preparations and the event itself.

Upon evaluation, it was found that the invited students rated the event highly for being “very informative”, which was on par with how much they liked the event.
