Syrian born law graduate, Roua Kassar is carving out a good reputation for her journalistic work as a Digital Content Strategist at Limkokwing University.
Roua pursued her degree in law in her hometown at the University of Damascus then travelled to Malaysia to start a new chapter of her life in the media industry.
While in college, she began working in a number of initiatives as a volunteer English tutor and translator.
“I am a workaholic. I like keeping myself busy and that’s why I involved myself in volunteering during my studies. I spent over 4 years teaching English as well as translating scientific articles and publishing them online,” she said.
Roua immediately embarked on her journalism career upon arriving in Malaysia, working for a local media company and where conducted one-on-one interviews with the former prime minister of Malaysia, a number of ministers, ambassadors, and professional businessmen as well as attending international conferences and events.
“The best part of being a journalist is the fact that I continue to learn new things each day and meet new people which are two of my favorite activities,” said Roua energetically.
Utilising her journalism background, Roua decided to take her career to the next level and work at the Centre for Content Creation at Limkokwing University as a Digital Content Strategist.
“The multicultural environment treasured by Limkokwing University is exactly what I was looking for to sharpen my skills and hone my talents,” she said.
As she is growing professionally and personally, Roua is enjoying her work journey at the university being surrounded by people from all across the globe and embracing cross-cultural personality differences.
“Today I have a better understanding on how culture shapes one and why others hold different perspectives and values,” she said.
