Azie Nasir: Shaping brands and telling stories

23 April 2022

A brand gives its business personality. One of the reasons why businesses need branding is to help them get recognised more often and no one understands this better than our alumna Azie Nasir. Azie is currently working as a Senior Brand Consultant in a branding consultancy firm named DIA Brands.

Azie graduated from the Diploma in Multimedia Advertising and Broadcasting and the Bachelor of Art in Mass Communication programme which “was a pivotal element for me to excel in my career.”

The umbrella term Mass Communications incorporates specialisations including Advertising, Journalism, Photography, Public Relations, Broadcast Media, and Telecommunications to name a few. “The programme has prepared me to be confident especially during presentations as well as working in a team or independently.”

“At DIA, our aspiration is to change the world through branding. The company’s purpose is to create business advantage for clients. As advisors and agents of cultural and business change, the business helps build brands through a clear understanding of the market, consumer and overall ecosystem.”

For over 20 years, Creating Business Advantage has been DIA’s core value proposition to drive business success. “Our Inside-Out and Outside-In approach has proven effective in making brands and consumers achieve the winning collaboration and sustainable relationship.”

Azie also had the opportunity to work with one of the biggest conglomerates in Malaysia, DRB-HICOM. There, she participated in creating a brand purpose statement that could unite 11 business verticals that the company owned. “I collaborated with the internal team and ideated the best statement to represent the group and continue their legacy for the next 100 years.”

“The project took 3 months to complete which successfully impacted nearly 48 thousand of employees, making it by far the biggest crowd in my career.”

When we asked Azie about her favourite project, she told us it was when she worked with a telco company in Brunei called Progresif. “We were tasked to create a simulation of a ‘war’ between them and other telco players in a workshop setting to better equip the employees with a solid strategy or action plan.”

While Azie has many achievements under her belt, her most memorable ones include organising DIA’s first full fledged digital workshop for the PLUS identity masterclass amid lockdown; leading the first luxury segment for TOP as head communicator; and coordinating a social media contest coupled with an outdoor movie screening overlooking the lake to increase awareness for Sunway Serene.
