Limkokwing Foundation for Creativity & Innovation has announced the launching of a RM30 million scholarship programme for eligible Malaysians to study and participate in strategic educational collaborations at any Limkokwing University campus in Malaysia.
Among dignitaries who attended the packed press conference at the Cyberjaya campus Presidential Library on 24 May 2018 were Lesotho High Commission-Counsellor, Mrs. Mamorero Mantsupeng Matli; Swaziland High Commissioner, H.E. Mlondi Solomon Dlamini; Uganda High Commissioner, H.E. Samali Dorothy Hyuha; and Representative of the Cultural Affairs of Egypt Embassy, Dr. Alya Borhan.
Also in attendance was the Deputy Director of the National Youth and Sports Department Malaysia, Ms. Fazulia Binti Zulkifli.
The Foundation is an international philanthropic organization formally established by Limkokwing University Founder and President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Limkokwing with a mission to empower generations of the future through education.
In his keynote address, Vice President and Limkokwing Academy of Creativity & Innovation Chair, Dato’ Raja Aznil Raja Hisham, spoke about the importance of fresh and creative talents to the nation’s future.
“As early as the 1970’s, Tan Sri Limkokwing has tried to make life bearable for all Malaysians and by introducing this Foundation back then, he has widened opportunities for deserving students to pursue their dream in the line of education,” said Dato’ Raja Aznil.
Meanwhile, Special Advisor to Tan Sri Limkokwing, Faridah Hameed said: “The future is all about communication and creativity, therefore it is important to cultivate the importance of creativity and innovation amongst the youngsters.”
Proven talents
Alumni and existing students shared their experience with members of media, reminiscing fondly about their days at Limkokwing University.
Ikram Syukri Mohamad, a Limkokwing University alumni and Felda scholar who now manages the video production team at the Centre for Content Creation, said: “I did prior research about Tan Sri Limkokwing before joining as a student in this campus and I realized then that this is the place I would fit in best because my areas of expertise are skills and practical-based.”
Meanwhile, Astro TV and radio announcer, Hairul Azwan Zakaria, another successful Limkokwing University Felda scholar who came from a modest background, attributed his career success to the industry-savvy education at Limkokwing which opened many doors for him.
“I would like to thank Tan Sri Limkokwing for his vision towards education and for giving underprivileged students opportunities through this Foundation,” he said.
