Limkokwing Swaziland officially inducted the 2016/17 Student Representative Council (SRC) during a workshop by the University’s induction committee.
The workshop was a platform for both the SRC and members of the committee to establish a personal and structural understanding. This will reinforce a strong moral foundation for SRC members before they commence their year in office.
The newly selected 2016/17 SRC members are; SRC President, Baphatse Dhladhla; Vice President, Sanele Nzima; General Secretary, Elvis Mahlalela; Vice General Secretary, Siphiwe Fakudze; Director of Finance Takhona Sibande; Director of Academics, Brian Sihlongonyane; Director of Social Welfare, Mfan’fikile Magongo; Director of Sports, Sicelo Mabuza and Director of Entertainment Vincent Vilakati.
The February 4 workshop was attended by the Corporate Relations & Recruitment Executive, Tshepiso Goitsemang; Student Services Executive, Nosipho Dlamini; International Tourism Lecturer, Dr. Patrice Mwamba; Finance Officer, Ntokozo Dlamini and representatives from the University’s departments.
During the workshop, SRC members were familiarised with the University’s operating procedures such as; channels to use when reporting student matters, how to make media engagements fall in line with the University standards and also how to build their relationship with the student body.
“We congratulate each member of the new SRC for being elected into the portfolios they are heading. The fact that you are selected shows that the students have faith in you, so you have to represent them well,” said the Student Services Executive Nosipho Dlamini.
The Faculty of Business and Globalisation Principal lecturer, Tfobile Gumede advised the SRC members not to lose their identity during their time in office. “Self-awareness leads to effective self-regulation, which can help you track whether motivations for intended actions are correct or not,” she added.
In conclusion to the workshop it was announced that students will have access to free counselling sessions from the Swaziland Government Hospital’s Psychiatric Health Unit (PHU).
