Limkokwing University Botswana recently held its annual media reception in recognition of the institution’s ongoing relationship with the local media fraternity at its Block 7 campus.

During the reception the University unveiled significant progressive developments including announcing its newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Dr. Raphael Dingalo who is the former Human Resource Development Council’s Chief Executive Officer and the new University Council Chairman Dr. Theophilus Mooko who is former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Dingalo stated, “In light of the creatives’ significant contribution to global Gross Domestic Product, Limkokwing will work at strengthening the creatives contribution to our country’s GDP. Furthermore, Limkokwing will strengthen efforts to produce more job creators as than job seekers.”

Introducing part time & short high-income career programmes

Other notable developments that were announced during the media reception included new programmes that the University will be offering for the 2021 new academic intake such as the 21st Century High-Income Career part time and short courses as well as the 1 Year Certificates Courses that cost only P15 000.00 per annum.

There would be flexible payment structures put in place designed to increase access to tertiary education for self-sponsored private students who not meeting the Government Sponsorship cut off points.

Widening access to higher education in Botswana

In elaborating flexible payment structures Limkokwing’s Finance Manager Ms. Lenah Kelepile said, “We understand the legitimate student concerns about affordability of university education. At the same time, we need to ensure that those who are not eligible for government sponsorship but qualifying for our programmes as private students will be allowed to pay tuition fees in installments therefore enabling Batswana to access higher education if they come from underprivileged and working-class families.”

Limkokwing University will also be offering up to 50% scholarships to all associate degree and degree programme self-sponsored students for the October 2021 new academic intake.

TVET Model University

The of Director Communication & PR, Ms. Mercy Thebe, highlighted that the programmes run at Limkokwing are innovative, stimulating and designed to better enable graduates to meet the challenges of the new economic world order and transition seamlessly from academia to the world of work.

The University’s TVET model for building human capital is based upon a broad vision of what learning, and training should embrace coupled with a practical orientation as envisioned by the fact that students on Limkokwing programmes are expected to produce practical work rather than simply learning theory in vacuum.

Limkokwing University seeks to attract enthusiastic, adventurous, creative, innovative, ready to take risks, techno-savvy young people, who want to contribute immensely to the growth of the economy of Botswana and globally. Those who want to experience the learning environment that prepares them to transit smoothly into careers with skills to manage new technology think creatively and speak with confidence.
