Fashionista Priya Khan was born and raised in Bangladesh and is cur-rently studying Fashion and Retailing at Limkokwing University. With passion for fashion, Priya discovered her obsession for garments, styl-ing, glam and fashion production from a really young age.
“As trends emerge and we’re forced to catch up, the fashion massacre continues to intrigue me. Right from behind the scenes to the forefront - I’m hungry to experience it all. I believe it’s all about embracing culture all around the world. It’s all about experiencing cultures, learning tradition and expressing it through fashion and educating people as well as accepting differences.”
Priya, who is also a lecturer in FFLC at Limkokwing University, enjoys every aspect of her teaching career. “I often tell my students that the more you can open your mind, the more you can accept your surroundings. It will help you develop your designs and come up with creative concepts. To be honest, here at Limkokwing, I have learned about culture, fashion, tradition and most of all; food! When I see my friends in their traditional costumes, I imbed certain styles and accents into my designs and enhance it in my styling.”
As Priya shared her Limkokwing University experience with us, she mentioned that she came with very minimal knowledge about the whole world. She learned to adjust and felt accepted because she felt at home.
“When first came here, I was very afraid that maybe I might not be accepted but I received the warmest welcomes and the wildest smiles.”
“I was blessed with kind words like ‘I’m here for you. I will support you.’ both by my lecturers and peers. I think it’s so important for everyone to know and learn about each others’ cultures. It helps develop our knowledge and enhances awareness.”
