Limkokwing University Swaziland hosted the third day of the European Union Film Festival 2014, showcasing the best local and international films to promote creativity among the public.
The European Union (EU) Film Festival is an annual international event that showcases films from EU countries to audiences around the world. Over the years, the festival started showcasing films by host country producers in an effort to promote creativity and push forward the next generation of filmmakers in the host country.
The four-day festival started its screening on the 4th Nov at Mbabane Theatre Club and came to Limkokwing University campus on the 6th Nov.
Among the notable dignitaries attending the screening at Limkokwing University was EU Ambassador to Swaziland H.E. Nicola Bellomo, accompanied by his wife Ms. Claudia Bellomo, the Director of Alliance Francaise Ms. Emily Motu, and the EU’s Information Officer in Swaziland Mr. Michael Motsa.
When launching the event, Ambassador Bellomo applauded four Limkokwing University students who had helped in creating the film festival’s advertising poster.
Three movies were screened at Limkokwing’s Multipurpose Hall; two Swazi short films titled ‘Tipopolo Tasezulwini’ and ‘Painful Love’, followed by the Spanish action thriller ‘Habra paz para los malvados’ (No rest for the wicked).
The attending crowd enjoyed watching the movie at the University, many commending the University for the quality of equipment used in the screening.
EU’s Information Officer Mr. Michael Motsa commended the University’s high-tech facilities, saying the University is a venue fit for such events.
“Limkokwing was the highlight of the festival as they had arranged their own logistics for the screening and they did an outstanding job,” said Motsa.
He further commented that the University was “taking the limelight” and growing fast, rooting itself well as Swaziland’s preferred University for creativity and technology.
