On 13 October, Limkokwing University received His Excellency Joseph Y. Yun, United States Ambassador-designate for Malaysia, to discuss prospective educational collaborations between the University and the United States embassy in Malaysia.

Joseph Y. Yun was nominated by Barack Obama before being confirmed by the full Senate on 1 August, 2013 as the Ambassador of United States to Malaysia. Of the 19 ambassadors appointed to Malaysia since 1960, he was the second ambassador to be a political appointee after Barbara Mae Watson (1980-1981).

The visit served as a stepping stone to achieve mutual understanding between the University and U.S. embassy to promote global empowerment of youth through education.

The United States Embassy currently offers various educational exchange programmes to encourage youth to gain global exposure and develop leadership skills in various sectors. During these programmes, students are required to work closely with a network of industry leaders in a multicultural environment.

Through this visit, Limkokwing University seeks to bring in global educational opportunities by partnering with the Malaysia-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE); a bi-national commission for Malaysia and the United States that actively promotes youth exchange through its educational exchange programmes.

Other exchange programmes include the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) launched by U.S. President Barack Obama and the International Visitor Leadership Programe (IVLP) which is a professional exchange programme by U.S. Department of State.

Limkokwing University aims for opportunities to spread its ideas of innovation in education by partnering with different organizations and government bodies. This provides students with unique opportunities across all fields to enrich their creativity and develop career-ready skills.
