Global Classroom uncovers Harry Potter filmmaking secrets at Warner Bros. film studio
4 July 2013
Global Classroom students went behind-the-scenes to discover the secrets behind J.K Rowling’s popular Harry Potter series during a tour of the Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden film studio in Hertfordshire.
The Harry Potter book franchise took the world by storm in 1997. Since its debut, it has gained worldwide attention, winning awards and selling more than 400 million copies along the way. The Harry Potter film series is the highest-grossing film series of all time.
Leavesden Studios was first leased in 1999 to make the first Harry Potter film feature.
In 2010 Warner Bros. invested over £100 million into Leavesden Studios to create Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden—a permanent U.K. film production base for the company.
Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden is one of the largest studio production facilities in Europe after its launch in 2012.
The students ventured behind-the-scenes and discovered breathtakingly detailed sets, stunning costumes, props and animatronics used in the filming of Harry Potter.
They saw the technology and props used to make some of the bizarre and magnificent creatures in the series, and learned how they were brought to life in the movies.
One of the highlights of the studio tour was a massive 1:24 scale model of Hogwarts School used extensively in the movies.
