Limkokwing University Celebrates the Class of 2023 with “CREATIVITY WITHOUT LIMITS”

On Saturday, 19 August, the Cyberjaya campus of Limkokwing University buzzed with excitement and pride as the Class of 2023 Graduation Ceremony began. The event was not just a celebration of academic achievements but a testament to the indomitable spirit of its students and the visionary ethos of the institution.
Founded by the late Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing, the university has always been a beacon of innovation, creativity, and global connectivity. With campuses on three continents and students from over 165 countries, Limkokwing University is a testament to the power of education to bridge cultures and foster global understanding. The university’s unique approach to education, blending academic rigour with real-world experience, has produced graduates who are not only job-ready but world-ready.
This year’s graduation held special significance as it marked the second graduation since the passing of the university’s beloved founder. Yet, his legacy was palpable in every corner of the ceremony. Dr Mazen Hasan M Khalil, a PhD graduate from Saudi Arabia, eloquently said, “Today, we celebrate not just our individual achievements, but the collective prosperous journey we have undertaken to reach this significant milestone.” His words echoed many’s sentiments, highlighting the Limkokwing experience’s transformative power.
Nabila Noshin, a BA (Hons) in Fashion and Retailing graduate from Bangladesh, shared her journey of perseverance and passion. “As I stand here, a graduate at the age of 30, I am reminded of a journey that has been nothing short of extraordinary,” she began, emphasising that it’s never too late to follow one’s dreams. Her story of transitioning from a career in pharmacy to fashion resonated with many, serving as a reminder of the boundless opportunities Limkokwing University offers its students.
Representing the Malaysian contingent, YM Dr Raja Muhammad Ridzuan Raja Azhar, another PhD in Management graduate, captured the essence of the day with his heartfelt gratitude. “Today, we become Limkokwing University graduates. This is the home of future academicians, musicians, filmmakers, directors, architects, designers, professionals, and practitioners,” he said, encapsulating his fellow graduates’ diverse talents and aspirations.
During the graduation ceremony, a significant highlight was the presence of the special guest of honour, Her Royal Highness Yang Amat Mulia Dr Tunku Kamariah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Binti Almarhum Baginda Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj. Not only is she an esteemed alumna of Limkokwing University, having earned a degree in Architecture, but she also holds an Honorary Doctorate in Creative Leadership from the university. In recognition of her outstanding contributions and visionary approach, the university bestowed upon her a special tribute for “Inspirational Leadership.” Her achievements serve as a beacon of inspiration for the graduating students, exemplifying the heights one can reach with dedication and a pioneering spirit.
The ceremony was about reflecting on the past and looking forward to the future. As YM Dr Raja Muhammad Ridzuan stated, “Gazing at the future, I see much uncertainty. But the one thing that is certain is CHANGE.” His words served as a clarion call for graduates to harness their education and creativity to navigate the ever-evolving global landscape.
Dato’ Raja Aznil Bin Raja Hisham, Chairman of the Board of Governing Council, addressed the graduates, “You have shown us what it means to be resilient, adaptable, and creative in the face of unprecedented challenges. As you embark on your next chapter, remember you are not alone. You have a network of friends, family, teachers, mentors, and alumni who are cheering for you. The world is changing fast, and you need to be adaptable, resilient, creative, and compassionate. I have no doubt whatsoever that you will contribute tremendously toward the future of the creative world.”
Prof Dr Abdul Jamal Abdul Hamid, the Vice-Chancellor, echoed the sentiment, “This is the moment to honour the ways in which you have changed through your experiences, experimenting with new ideas, apprehension of invaluable knowledge, and exploring challenging issues. The world needs leaders who are devoted to active citizenship, who think deeply about the world’s problems, and who are prepared to contribute to the advancement of human society. Congratulations to all graduates of 2023. You can be proud of this university where quality education interacts and converges with the global community beyond cultural borders.”
