Train

The rail network that runs throughout Jakarta is somewhat the lifeline to the transportation system of the capital. The railroad tracks connect Jakarta to its neighbouring cities. To the south it connects Jakarta to Depok and Bogor, to the west, Tangerang and Serpong and Bekasi, Karawang and Cikampek to the east. The major rail stations in Jakarta are Gambir, Jatinegara, Manggarai, Tanah Abang and Jakarta Kota. Of late the government has made giant stride in improving the railways to deal with the increasing population and the rush hour congestions.
