Parina Thammavong from Laos chose a degree in Interior Architecture because it offers a wide spectrum of career paths.
“Interior architecture is a very creative field and it provides the opportunity for students to be involved in areas such as architecture, fashion, and furniture design.”
Muse for Interior Architecture
Parina acknowledged that her father inspired her to follow a career in interior architecture.
“Even though my father is in the engineering field, he was the one who influenced my decision. Back in Laos, my father constructed a building by himself from the ground up—the architecture plus interior. This really interested me and that is how I decided to choose interior architecture.”
Cutting-Edge Architecture Programmes
“I only had a month in Limkokwing University but I knew just what kind of University I was applying to. It’s one of the best universities in Asia especially in the creative realm.”
Parina said she is already discovering talents she never knew existed. “When I first came here I was not creative at all, but the classes I have attended so far opened my mind and trained me think more out of the box.”
Different Cultures, One Language
For Parina, the University stands tall amongst the rest because of its multiculturalism.
“When I first came here, I was so surprised because there were people from all corners of the world. Back in Laos, people are shyer and they speak mostly Lao language. But in Limkokwing University, you find people from around the world speaking one common language: English.
After graduating in three years, she wishes to establish an interior design consultancy in Laos because it is still a very amateur field.
“I would suggest for prospective students to study at Limkokwing University because it is the best University especially in terms of the exposure it gives students. One really comes out of their shell. You won’t learn anything if you get stuck in your comfort zone.”
