Princess Sikhanyiso says the innovative concepts and ideas contained at Limkokwing University are parallel with the ideals set out by the Swazi Government in seeing through the National Development Plan.
She was speaking at the National Poetry Day celebrated at the campus yesterday. The princess said, like many countries, Swaziland was faced with many challenges which can be resolved by innovative thinking.
“It’s not by coincidence that the government of Swaziland found it fit to come up with the Innovative Hub, whose mandate is to promote innovative and technology driven businesses,” she said.
She said work such as that of Limkokwing was a stepping stone to the realisation of vision 2022, of a prosperous, productive, and innovative nation.
She acknowledged that even though the nation has not arrived at the destination, they believed that with creativity and innovation, they will surely accomplish their vision. Limkokwing celebrated the day under the theme ‘Write, Speak, and share the word’, where the princess assured the government was committed to development and promotion of arts, which included the preservation of literary heritage.
She further said that the innovative work which was prevailing at the university played a major role in transforming of the country’s economy.
“I would like to appeal to the youth to immerse yourself in arts and extract some useful lessons from there as it is you who can generate fresh ideas that will transform us speedily.” She said the main reason why she was actively involved in arts was for people to be motivated and realise that they can be what they want.
She also mentioned that such events are about growing and developing the mind, and was relevant to every goal, minor or major. She said when somebody engages in art, they have the opportunity to understand greatly what their capabilities where and how they could make good use of them.
The princess said Limkokwing has played a mammoth role in organising the motivational events as such events exist for the development of their cognitive abilities. She advised the tertiary students to focus their mind power on their goals because it would help build a clear and well defined path for them.
