After many years of taking part in the Tertiary Education Council Fair, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology doesn’t seem to be shaken as they keep walking away with most of the awards.
The trend continued last week when they again scooped the award for Best Branded Stall, winning it for the 4th year in a row, and 1st prize for being the Best University, beating their competition BUIST (2nd place) and UB (3rd place).
Appreciating their win, Limkokwing Regional Director Corporate, Industry and Media Relations officer Mercy Thebe noted that they been working hard these past years and the awards are a sign of their sweat.
She said they are now looking forward to taking their brand across the SADC region. She said their objective for this year’s awards were ‘To take Limkokwing brand to the people and further market our services and products to all our target audiences.’
Opportunity
We also wanted to give our prospective students, being form five leavers the opportunity to learn more about the 21st century courses we offer, and help them choose their future by guiding them to choose the right courses of study for the upcoming July 2013 intake’ Thebe said.
She further said that having attained their target, they are looking to maintain their position as the best tertiary institution in Botswana.
She revealed that they attracted 3115 prospective students in the four days at this year’s fair, compared to 1352 in 2012 and 612 in 2011 over the same period of time.
Thebe said they were aware of the looming cost sharing in tertiary education between government and parents, but said their University was looking forward to playing a role in helping where there is a need.
She said ‘we also share the sentiments of cost sharing between parents and government, as we are aware that financial resources are limited in the country, hence we should all look for alternative methods of accelerating tertiary education financing, and get other stakeholder involved, such as parents and the private sector, to ensure that parents and the private sector to ensure that we have adequate students’ finances and not just depend on the government.’
The fair was held under the theme Financing Tertiary Education in a resource limited environment.
