Limkokwing University donates M180 000.00 worth of goods to Lesotho’s Ministry of Health to help prevent the spread of Covid-19

The Ministry of Health Lesotho received donations worth over M180 000.00 from Limkokwing University in efforts to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 on 11 June 2020.

Handed to the National Command Centre, the donations came in a form of 10 000 surgical masks and three awareness videos produced with the purpose of sensitising the nation and encouraging people to adhere to the covid-19 safety precautions. The videos were played on Lesotho Television during and after the National Lockdown.

Present at the handover ceremony was Limkokwing University Lesotho Registrar, Mr. Moroka Hoohlo; Ministry of Health, Deputy Principal Secretary, Ms. Lesimole Moletsane; Minister of Communication Science and Technology, Honorable Thesele ‘Maseribane.

In his speech, Mr. Moroka Hoohlo the donations were made through the Limkokwing Heal The World Foundation to help the Government of Lesotho prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Heal the World Foundation is an initiative that was established by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing to help alleviate poverty and better lives of the needy across the globe as well as raise awareness of the world’s most pressing concerns.

“We want to contribute in whatever way possible to lessen the impact of the pandemic and to show our appreciation to our brave front liners for their sacrifice, dedication and contribution during Lesotho’s hour of need,” conveyed Mr Hoohlo. “It is times like this that we really need to step up and be united, putting aside our differences, and work together in our collective fight against Covid-19.”

Deputy Principal Secretary, Ms. Lesimole Moletsane, gave a vote of thanks on behalf of her Ministry and shared that the masks would be sent to 270 health departments in the districts for there is a greater need there.

Honorable Thesele ‘Maseribane who is also the National Command Centre Chairperson extended his thanks to the University on behalf of the Government of Lesotho for stepping forward at a time need highlighting that the technology brought forth by the University would bring great improvements to the strategies used to raise awareness and win the fight against covid-19 in the country.

The Minister indicated that the masks would also be given to front-liners stationed at the country’s borders.
