The Limkokwing Creativity Series is an initiative by Limkokwing University to spark conversations and student engagement with dynamic change makers.
Hosting big-named brands in wellness, economic empowerment, and clean water technology, the Creativity Series kicked off on 2 March 2023 with an energising outdoor session by The Yoga Collective, followed by an illuminating talk by Superfoods Sri Lanka.
Joined by colourfully dressed freshies and seniors, Annie and Aaron from the Yoga Collective took centre stage at the Atrium. Starting with a briefing about their history and background as yoga practitioners, mats were unfolded as legs were folded, and they led all participants on a 30-minute session of light stretching and breathing exercises. According to Annie, who also runs Soulful Yin Yoga, her spiritual path started as a quest for happiness. With the workshop that was conducted, she was able to introduce participants to the deeper concept of inner well-being as the key to happiness, which in turn unlocks spiritual wealth.
The second session began after a break, and this time as the students reconvened at an indoor venue at Limkokwing Fashion Club, Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim, Senior Vice President of Limkokwing University, stepped up to welcome the next illustrious industry speaker. The founders of Superfood Sri Lanka, Limkokwing alumni Amande Panditaratne from Sri Lanka and Ruta Balciunaite from Lithuania introduced the concept of getting the best nutrition at minimal calories, with the focus being on their initiative and efforts to increase healthy eating among the busy working population. Ruta emphasised that the three pillars of Superfood are to enhance and promote body nourishment, uplift the spirit, and educate the mind through food.
Beginning in 2017 with the capacity to serve just 15 customers at a time, Superfoods steadily increased their influence and impact, securing funds to become a full-fledged restaurant with seating for 30 people. Now, they have plans to expand into Dubai, Maldives, and Malaysia. During their Q & A session, they were quick to point out that the main driving point to their success was a challenging balance of processes, food sourcing, and marketing - all of equal importance due to their unique food service. Dato’ Tiffanee ended the session with a warm sendoff, reminding everyone who attended that wellness has to start from within.
Feedback from students was positive indicating that the refreshing talks and sessions they had during the day was a delightful departure from their daily lectures, and it was generally agreed upon that having an up-close and personal session directly with the founders increased their respect and appreciation towards the companies’ visions and goals.
