‘Transform Now’ says Dr. Lim Kok Wing

Limkokwing University of Creative Technology launched its book “The Future is coming”, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Education and Training Mr Apesi Rats’ele, guests from various educational institutions and journalists.

Speaking at the occasion Ms Marcia Mangadi, the regional director-marketing and recruitment said the book was written by professor Emeritus, Tan Sri, Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr Lim Kok Wing, founder and president of Limkokwing University.

She further indicated that “The future is coming” is a compilation of speeches, articles and blogs by Dr Lim Kok Wing, which he gave on several platforms including the media and events tackling issues of creativity and innovation along with how they can propel economies forward.

Moreover, Ms Mangadi highlighted that through his writings, one can hear and feel the fierce passion and strong-will Dr Lim Kok Wing exhibits when he talks about innovation as a driver of change.

“His speeches are focused, offer real solutions to problems, and are almost prophetic, she stated.

“Innovative capacity knows no geographical boundaries, and it cannot be driven, regulated or legislated by traditional-bound bureaucracies” he goes on to say, “It most definitely cannot be taught as a subject in school of flourish in an eco-system that does not enable innovation.”

She added that the book will be a useful tool to many; especially those in government who can make reference to it as a means to loosen the complexity of the subject matter.

“This book answers almost untouched and often unasked issues on innovation. It can be used as as a handbook to tackle the issues and I would like to believe that I am not wrong in saying that it is recommended reading to all who want to bring their ideas to life and bring about positive change” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the minister, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Mr Rat’sele said he was pleased to be engaged on one of his favourite topics and the buzzword of the future – innovation.

He continued to say that every country that wishes to compete globally must pay attention to the word ‘innovation’. He stated that Dr Lim Kok Wing has written a book that summarizes his main message on the need to inovate in preparation for transformation into the future.

“The title of the book “The future is coming- Transform Now” is both exciting and disturbing. It is exciting because it heightens our interest in what the future is about,” said Mr Rats’ele.

“It is disturbing because it contains an underlying ‘warning’ which no country in the world can afford to ignore, that is, prepare for the future through innovation or risk being left behind,” he added.

He insisted that he is encouraged to know that Lesotho will not miss the boat; also, that the country has innovative plans to build a digital economy for its future. He said the country is preparing its youth to be ready when the future arrives.

“Technological innovations are creating pools of creative talent all around the world and Lesotho is no exception. Our young people have shown quick response to change and have embraced new technology at a rapid rate, something that is helping to prepare them to be the catalysts of change,” he said.

He further pointed out that Lesotho can share in that future, “Can Lesotho do it? People say Lesotho is a small country but I say size does not matter. Look at small countries such as Finland, Sweden and more recently, South Korea.

They may be small but they are conquering the world with products and services that are in high demand globally with brands like Nokia, Volvo and Samsung.”

The deputy minister launched the book at the end of lavish ceremony.
