Inna Ddin from the Faculty of Fashion & Lifestyle Creativity (FFLC) won first place at the Kuala Lumpur Young Designers Awards 2021 while Akiela Shafira Arthamevia made it to the top 10 finalists.

KLYDA 2021 is a fashion design competition initiated by KL Young Designers Association with Hatta Dolmat at the helm to promote fashion sustainability, recycled plastic materials and circular economy (CE) among the young generations especially students.

Fashion design graduate and current freelance fashion stylist, Inna Ddin, said she was first introduced to sustainable fashion during the London Global Classroom programme in 2017 and will continue to implement the knowledge she learned in the work she does.

For Akiela Shafira Arthamevia, from Indonesia, taking part in KLDA 2021 was an unforgettable experience as it gave her a platform to practice what she learned in class in a real-world setting.

“Being a monumental experience in my life, I’ve enjoyed every aspect of the competition. However, I would say that my favorite part would be showcasing my work in front of the public after months of preparing and perfecting my designs,” she said.
