The first solo act signed by Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing under his Sound and Music Design Academy’s record label, released her debut single album recently.

Titled Ernie Shaheerah: My Only One, the album includes two bonus tracks in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.

Nurrul Ernie Shaheerah Zulkifli was a graduate of the academy, having joined the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology’s (LUCT) in 2005 after completing her foundation studies in music at the Akademi Seni Kebangsaan (Aswara) Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur.

She graduated from the academy in 2009 with a diploma in sound and music.

Moved and proud: Pn. Rahimah Tambi Bakar, Ernie’s mum, was at the launch to support her daughter.

During her time there, the 25-year-old had the opportunity to perform in more than 150 events. She went on to become the university’s choir conductor and talent scout.

Ernie has always wanted to be a singer and had no doubt about what she wants to do once she finished her secondary schooling.

As such, she did not hesitate to accept Lim’s offer to work with him on an album.

“I knew a music career would be extremely challenging, but this is who I am, and I am determined to give it my all and leave the future to God,” she said.

Under her contract, Ernie will be exclusively managed by the Sound and Music Design Academy.

She describes the single as pop rock with love as the central theme. The single, My Only One, and the two bonus tracks – Semalam Kan Hilang and Fairytale – were composed by the university’s Sound and Music Academy team.

At the launch event held at Hard rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur recently, Ernie presented the three songs as well as the music video of My Only One.

Ernie is positive that she has what it takes to be in the spotlight. “I know fame and fortune can be yours in this line of work but I also know that it can be fleeting, so I’m focusing on what really matters, which is perfecting my art.”
