Limkokwing University Cyberjaya campus saw one of its largest turnouts ever on 10 May 2018, during the Limkokwing International Cultural Festival from 11am until midnight.
The theme was “The World in One Place” – marking the one day in a year where everyone gets an opportunity to travel the globe in a single day.
This year’s festival was particularly special as a new record was set in the Malaysia Book of Records - the highest number of country representatives participating in a cultural festival with 110 delegates attending!
As per tradition, students showcased their national identity in grand fashion to the thousands of visitors who attended the event, with over 40 booths set up at the Plaza.
The event was graced by Royal Guest of Honour and Chancellor, Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultanah Pahang Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom DK of Malaysia, accompanied by His Highness Tengku Abdul Fahd Mu’adzam Shah Ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Among the notable attendees were the Secretary of Cultural Division under Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Dr. Tan Awang Besar and Fashion Designer, Julien Macdonald.
“Limkokwing University is an inspirational institution that brings together people from all over the world and the cultural festival is a very special day here as we get to learn a lot of cultures and practices,” said Macdonald.
Out-of-this-world performances
Thousands of visitors were engaged with exciting activities throughout the day, sampling various authentic delicacies, witnessing mind-blowing arts, traditional music and amazing dances by Limkokwing students, all proudly representing their countries.
“I am really impressed with a lot of people from different nationalities and what they all presented today is really something unique and I can openly say that I have never seen anything like this in Malaysia before,” said His Excellency Kreso Glavac, Ambassador of Republic of Croatia in Malaysia.
Among the highlights on stage were local group, De Fam, and a special guest performance by Limkokwing University’s very own alumni, Joe Flizzow.
At the end of the night, Bangladesh won the title for Best Booth, Malaysia took home the award for Best Performance, and Brazil won for the Most Outstanding Costume.
