The Limkokwing Film Academy is excited to announce 11 winners for Malaysia’s first ever International Youth Film Festival. The festival saw film entries from 18 countries across Asia, Africa and the Americas – namely Brazil, China, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Lao’s People Republic, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Syrian Arab Republic, Yemen, Iran, Botswana, Eswatini, Rwanda and Sierra Leone.

Present as the guest of Honor at the announcement ceremony held at Limkokwing University’s flagship campus in Cyberjaya was Chairman of FINAS, Yang berusaha. Tuan Zakaria Abdul Hamid as well as members of the media fraternity.

The winners’ categories for the International Youth Film Festival read as follows:

• Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing Award for Best Film Promoting Peace, Alisha (Philippines) - John Knox
• Best Short Film, Rolling Life (India) - Nabeel Ta
• Best Actor, The Chase 追 (Malaysia) - Megaminx Production
• Best Actress, Lockdown Diaries (Botswana) - Seneo Bambino
• Best Screenplay, Penjara Seni (Malaysia) - Siti Nursyahirah
• Best Cinematography, Avarice (India) - Jaseel Avulan
• Best Original Music, Peace Drop (Malaysia) - Logan Ghanesh
• People’s Choice Award, Rolling Life (India) - Nabeel Ta
• Judges Special Prize for Animation, Cyberchondria (Pakistan) - Safeer Manzoor
• Judges Special Prize for VFX, Planet Earth (Iran) - Omid Ghajar
• Judges Special Prize for Best Experimental, A Figura Do Desapego (The Detachment Figure) (Brazil) - Carlos Yudji Oliveira


Nurturing Creativity on the Cutting Edge of Film Making
Seeing a growing need to promote and protect creative industries – with the film industry being the hardest hit by Covid-19, the Limkokwing Film Academy provides an excellent platform for filmmakers and enthusiasts alike to hone the mastery of specific skills in the art of filmmaking for the 21st century.

The Academy’s emphasis on creativity and innovation inspires every individual to create without any boundaries or perceived limitations – be it in a professional studio setting or creating a film using just a mobile phone.

Speaking on behalf of the Founder and President Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing the University’s Senior Vice President YM Dato’ Raja Aznil acknowledged that the film academy is a vital component of the Limkokwing to rejuvenate the industry’s post covid recovery plan.

“We are doing this together with our association partners through up-skilling and enhancement short programmes for the members and interested parties. We hope this will fast-track the industry’s development back to the way it was before, maybe even better beyond the new norm.”

Harnessing Talent and Creating Opportunities
With the world’s most global student body, and using equipment, software and techniques utilized by the industry, the Limkokwing Film Academy focuses on creativity and innovation to shape technical skills and knowledge to create exciting new content tailored to global audiences.

As a vital component of Limkokwing University which has a long tradition of producing award-winning filmmakers - the Academy has developed partnerships with the Malaysian film industry associations such as Film Directors Association of Malaysia (FDAM), Creative Writers Guild Malaysia (CGM), Malaysian Society of Cinematographers (MySC), Malaysian Association of Performing Artistes (Seniman), Post-Production Association of Malaysia (POSTAM), and Professional Film Workers of Malaysia (PROFIMA).

In conjunction with the Limkokwing Film Academy the University will be offering scholarships to eligible applicants who have a passion in performing arts, filmmaking, content creation, advertising, broadcasting and journalism.
