A total of 106 FELDA students from across the country where selected for Limkokwing University’s ‘Generasi Global’ programme. Students from various faculties were given the ‘Generasi Global Study Tour to London’. These students will be spending a semester at Limkokwing London from 7th April till 11th July 2014.

The group of students benefit from the scholarship fund provided by both FELDA and Limkokwing University. This is part of the university’s efforts to reduce the disparity between the rural and urban communities. It is also a vision of our Prime Minister when he launched the program back in 2005.

“Thanks to Limkokwing University for the collaboration with FELDA aimed at a long time and empowering the kids to London.”

Mr Amir Hamdan bin Haji Yusof, the Director of the Department of Higher Education and Development of New Generation FELDA said during the send-off, “Thanks to Limkokwing University for the collaboration with FELDA aimed at a long time and empowering the kids to London. If there is no Limkokwing, it is not possible that we can send them.”

“Today Limkokwing directs a good program for us here at FELDA. I thank Limkokwing once again and thanks to the parents for allowing their children to seek deeper knowledge at London,” added Mr Amir.

“Let this be a covenant between us Limkokwing University and also FELDA. We will not come back empty handed, we will be back as changed individuals with more experience, more knowledge and being more independent. We promise to function as a family and take care of each other through thick and thin and strengthen our bond as a family,” said student Mohd Rizuan bin Mohd Idris from FELDA Kahang Barat, Johor who is currently pursuing his Diploma in Broadcasting, Radio and Television.

Parent Haji Taib bin Yahya from FELDA Sungai Panching Selatan Kuantan said, “I’m thankful to FELDA and to Limkokwing University. I’m so proud to have my child Zammil Haqim as a student at Limkokwing University studying Digital Photography. My child gets his education from a University where no other universities provides it.”

Before the students’ departure, FELDA gave an allowance of GBP 480 for each student to spend over at London. The group will be visiting famous international historic foundations, exploring industries which is driving the city’s economy, going into world’s largest fashion brands and retail outlets and also absorbing the designs of British culture.
