Delegates from Limkokwing University held a meeting with the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Botswana on 4 January to discuss collaboration opportunities.
Botswana Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Deputy Permanent Secretary Mogomotsi Kaboeamodimo met with Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing, Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim, Dato’ Gail Phung, Dato’ Fajura Juffa and other representatives from Limkokwing University.
Deputy Permanent Secretary Mogomotsi Kaboeamodimo is also the Chairman of the University Council for Limkokwing University Botswana. He has been active in the country’s development in the media industry.
The Government of Botswana has committed P260 million to enable the industry to migrate from analogue to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT). The funds would be channelled to acquire production and transmission equipment, content, training and skills development, infrastructure upgrades and integrated services.
The collaboration agreement aims to bring growth and development to the country. Botswana is preparing a 10-year development strategy whereby Limkokwing University could contribute in areas of tourism and skill-based education.
During the meeting and discussion, both party aims to establish Gaborone as the city of arts and culture. This will attract more talents to the city while providing job opportunities for Botswana youths. The establishment of Gaborone as a hub of creativity and innovation would also attract other talents from neighbouring countries.
The collaboration will also emphasise on building the country’s economy in terms of vibrancy and productivity. These include creativity-focused initiatives such as music, dance and cultural festivals. This will enable the country to attract skilled talents who can express themselves and be respected for their achievements.
Other plans include intensive record-keeping to be used on National Geographic, enhancing integration and social transformation for BOTS50 and establishing Botswana’s unique identity from other African countries.
Limkokwing University emphasises creativity and innovation to develop economic growth. The University engages with government and private organisations to promote economic development and progress.
