Limkokwing University of Creative Technology
The auspicious event was attended by His Majesty King Mswati III, the Royal Queen Mother, members of the royal family, and government officials. Parents and families of the graduates also thronged Mavuso Trade Centre to see their loved ones graduate.
The event was in true Limkokwing University spirits, with students welcoming guest with lively cheer and enthusiasm. The University choir, known as the Limkokwing Tenors, also brightened the day with their melodious tunes.
When addressing the audience, His Majesty King Mswati said the welcome and the student performances were a good sign that the event was organised with a lot of creativity. He applauded the University for its effort to develop Swazi youth, and went on to say the number of students graduating were a clear indication that the country was well on its way to realising vision 2022.
“In today’s graduation we see the promise that Tan Sri Limkokwing made to us materialise through the graduation of so many Swazi youths, who are now empowered with the skills the nation needs to keep pace with the rest of the world,” he said.
He went on to appeal to companies to give graduates an opportunity to utilise their skills and capabilities to better Swaziland industries. He said companies should hire graduates because they are equipped with creative thinking and innovation, which are the best way to take Swaziland industries to a competitive level in global markets.
During the event, the University recognized the most excelling graduates and gave them awards in various categories that matched their performance. Thirteen of the award winner were given a scholarship to further their studies in Malaysia next year.
The graduates also expressed their gratitude to the University for offering them a better future through the skills and capabilities they have developed during their study with Limkokwing University.
“I am proud of being a Limkokwing graduate, and I am so humbled by the recognition. I would like to thank Tan Sri Limkokwing for this wonderful opportunity to study abroad,” said Audrey Nothando Masuku; one of the award winners.
The graduates vowed to represent Swaziland well abroad, and to bring back the skills their gain to lead the country into a developed nation status.
“Creativity is our middle name, we vow that we will take our country to a developed nation, as per vision 2022,” said Zakhele Dlamini, another award winning graduate.
