Limkokwing University gave a warm welcome to the newly appointed Brazilian ambassador during his first visit to Limkokwing University on 7 Oct.

H.E. Carlos Martins Ceglia was appointed as the Ambassador-designate of Brazil to Malaysia in July 2015. He was accompanied by Embassy of Brazil’s Head of the Cultural Section Joao Reino during his visit around the University.

Limkokwing University’s Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Cedric Bell provided the ambassador with a guided tour around the campus while revealing the University’s rich history.

The visit aims to establish educational partnership between the University and the Federative Republic of Brazil through networking with the Ministry of Education of Brazil, public and private universities.

Additionally, the University is exploring the prospect of participating with the Embassy of Brazil as a host institution for the Brazilian ‘Science Without Borders’ programme. ‘Science Without Borders’ is a joint effort by the Brazilian Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology. This large-scale nationwide scholarship programme is funded by the Brazilian federal government which seeks to strengthen and expand Brazilian education in the areas of science, technology, innovation and competitiveness. This programme was created to provide international study opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students as well as researchers.

Other potential collaborations from the visit include establishing links with the CAPEs (Coordenacao de Aperfeicoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior) and CNPq (Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnologico).

By creating a successful partnership, Limkokwing University will be able to bridge the two countries while expanding its presence in the Brazilian community thus allowing future graduates to benefit with broader multicultural exposure and wider global networking opportunities.
