Seven student designers from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology added a glamorous feather to their caps when they recently showcased their work in the fashion capital of Paris, France.
Their designs were paraded alongside brands such as Chula (Spain), Jaeger London (United Kingdom), Mauzan (UAE) and Verano High (United States) at the J Summer Fashion Show.
“There is a huge sense of pride for our students on campus for being chosen to represent our country and who we are,” said Talent Development associate vice president Datuk Tiffanee Marie Lim.
Student Bianca Augustina Tandy from Indonesia was overjoyed when she found out her garments would be showcased in Paris while Maria Sandra Wijaya, also from Indonesia, remarked that it was another step towards achieving her dream of becoming a designer.
The showcase took place on a glass boat at the River Seine where models paraded various collections in front of guests while the boat cruised down the river.
The students created a predominantly black yet cultural collection of 15 garments for the fashion show. A special soundtrack for the students’ showcase was also prepared and mixed by the university’s Sound and Music Academy. The event was choreographed by choreographer K. Knight from the UK, who previously worked with Beyonce, Kylie Minogue, Emporio Armani, and MTV.
