A revered citizen, patriotic and conscientious
He has witnessed his nation’s historical footprints as it struggled to gain independence from its British colonial masters and has been deeply involved in efforts to build its fledgling economy.
The Rt. Hon. Motsoahae Thomas Thabane has worked in service of his nation for some five decades of his life. He is a graduate in Political Science, English and Systematic Philosophy.
The Prime Minister began his service as an Assistant Senate Clerk in the Parliament of Lesotho and rose through the ranks to become Principal Secretary in the Ministries of Health and the Interior under the late Prime Minister Chief Leabua Jonathan and later served the Government under the military regime that ruled the country from 1986 to 1993, where he was appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1990.
In 1995 he was appointed as Special Advisor to incoming Prime Minister Dr Ntsu Mokhehle whom he knew from his schooldays at Maseru Controlled Primary School where Dr Ntsu was his teacher. Under the former Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili’s government he served as Foreign Minister, Minister of Home Affairs and Public Safety as well as Minister of Communications, Science and Technology.
Apart from his political life, the Rt. Hon. Motsoahae Thomas Thabane has been an active participant in community-based activities, not only within his constituency but also nationwide.

The wisdom he has acquired tells him that the single most important element in building the future of his nation is to unite his people of close to two million people. This he believes is the bedrock upon which all the challenges facing the Kingdom can be overcome. He seeks a broader approach to economic development to ensure Lesotho is able to compete more aggressively in the global arena.
