Malaysian Zoological Society (Zoo Negara) representatives visited Limkokwing University on 26 Feb to discuss collaboration opportunities.
The representatives included Deputy President and Chairman of Administration Rosly Rahmat Ahmat Lana, Personal Assistant to Deputy President Mas Syazwani Izyan Bt Masbah, Head of Education Department Junaidi bin Omar and Head of Public Relations and Marketing Department Nurul Faieza Norhafifi.
Zoo Negara is managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society; a non-governmental organisation established to create the first Malaysian zoo. It was officially opened in 1963 and located 5km away from the Kuala Lumpur City. The Zoo covers 110 acres (0.44 sqm) and currently has over 5,000 specimen with more than 400 species of mammals, birds, reptile amphibians and fish.
“We hope the University could help Zoo Negara develop more awareness for the environment through education,” said Rosly Rahmat. “At the same time, we hope to be able to encourage more visits from locals and tourists.”
The University supports nature conservation together with the Malaysian Zoological Society. Limkokwing University became the official media partner during the launch of the Giant Panda Conservation Centre on 25th June 2014.
Limkokwing University supports humanitarian causes that promote peace and sustainability through educational programmes and initiatives which focus on environmental issues.
