Limkokwing University is the gold sponsor and venue host for the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Summit from the 4 to 5 November 2017.
Themed ‘An Intergenerational Convergence’ the summit will address four key topics, namely Climate Policy and Finance, Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Peace Building and Global Inequality and Social Cohesion. The summit is organised in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Malaysian Government.
During a press conference held on 31 October 2017 the Commonwealth Youth Council Chairman, Kishva Ambigapathy said, “This is the first ever youth summit that we have decided to host in Malaysia. We have decided Malaysia as the country of choice as a lead up to Malaysia hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2020 as well as an intention of the Commonwealth Youth Council to move its operations from London to Malaysia as part of establishing a Commonwealth Youth City here in Malaysia.”
He also extended his gratitude to Limkokwing University for not only being the gold sponsor and venue host but for also being a strong partner of the Commonwealth Youth Council.
On behalf of Limkokwing University, the Director of Corporate Communications, Datin Nikki Lugun acknowledged that it is befitting for the University to be the host and partner for the Commonwealth Youth Summit because Limkokwing is Malaysia’s most Globalised University and also has the majority of the Commonwealth countries represented on campus.
