Limkokwing University was invited to showcase its digital capabilities at the Taman Inovasi exhibition in Putrajaya on 1 November 2017, an event organised by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU).

Headlining the Limkokwing University exhibition booth was Starfall Catalyst, a game-based learning mobile app developed on campus, and the PanaXity Panoramic Digitisation platform.

Starfall Catalyst is a first-of-its-kind ‘third-person shooter’ where players are tasked with blazing through a fully 3D environment while unlocking fascinating chemistry concepts along the way.

“With over 20 challenging levels in three unique worlds, over 50 topics, and tons of quizzes and mini games, it will keep players entertained while educating them about the fun side of chemistry. And the game is played entirely within a 3D enivironment, which is unique for a game in this genre,” said Jitesh Panchal, Lead Game Designer & Producer of Starfall Catalyst.

Starfall Catalyst Version 1.0.3 is entirely free with no in-app purchases or ads, and is now available on the App Store.

Meanwhile, PanaXity is an award-winning platform which features the world’s largest panoramic image – a stunning, seamless 360° image of Kuala Lumpur.

PanaXity Project Manager, Mehdi Zarrabi, said the platform was developed using a new approach to visualization that captures high definition aerial panoramic images both in daylight and at night. “It uses a new inventive method to map pixels on the image with GPS data. PanaXity is web-based and able to display information on the image through live or automated API integration,” he said. 

Mehdi says there is limitless potential in the platform’s utility, from tourism and urban planning, to research and education.

“Having PanaXity implemented nationwide would help further promote Malaysia to the world, both for tourism and attracting foreign investment. It would also be a great tool for development and infrastructure planning,” Mehdi added. 

Created from more than 31,000 individual images with a total resolution of 846 gigapixels, it currently holds the Guinness World Record for the Largest Panoramic Image in the World.

MAMPU is the central agency for the modernisation and transformation of the Public Service Administration. The agency’s major role is serving as a catalyst for change in administrative and management services in the public sector.

MAMPU is also a leader in developing ICT for the public sector. The agency consults in management organisation and ICT and facilitates in the implementation of modernisation and transformation programmes in the public sector delivery system.

The University is part of the Public Sector Strategic Collaboration Network, a platform which appoints strategic partners from different industries to work closer with the communities to build services for the digital initiative.

Limkokwing University was appointed a MAMPU Strategic Partner in Digital Government Transformation Initiative on 23 November 2016.
