Khojivalibek Khasanov from Uzbekistan

5 September 2016

Khojivalibek is in semester 5 of the Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Entrepreneurship programme. He chose entrepreneurship because it fosters technological and social change through creativity and innovation to help develop economic engines.

“I am currently studying and working part time at Wings Coffee as a barista. I have always loved to create stuff which obviously has led me to study entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is not only important for a single business, but it is also a key role in the growth of any country.”

In search for a top-notch University

“I came to Malaysia in 2013 and enroled for an English course at Kuala Lumpur with my brother. After completing the course I started looking for universities I could pursue my degree at. See, I wasn’t just looking for any university; I wanted to study at a top-notch university. I looked for quite a while until my friend introduced me to Limkokwing University.”

“To be sure I arranged for a campus tour. I wanted to see the University facilities, labs and enquired in-depth about the programmes offered. One thing that stood out for me was seeing students from different countries which is a scene I’m not used to.”

“Secondly, the University gives students the opportunity to work while studying; it is in this way that one gets to improve skills and prepare for the industry. From learning all these pointers I joined Limkokwing University without wasting time.”

Learning from Experts

“We have really great lecturers at our faculty; they have the right skills and vast experience. I’m an entrepreneurship student, and as a business student, creativity and innovation is at the core of what I learn.”

“Limkokwing University is synonymous with creativity and innovation, our curriculum is up to date with industry standards so new methods of learning are introduced throughout the semester. We learn through industry talks by professionals, competitions, events and so on.”

Valuable Work Experience

“During the entire time of studying in Limkokwing University, I had a lot of eye opening experiences. After my first semester I started looking for a part time job, a few weeks after submitting my CV I got a call for an interview at Wings Coffee. I was so excited to land the job and I began working in January 2015 as a barista.”

“Funny thing is I never understood how coffee was made, but since 2015 until now I learned a lot and actually excelled at it. To my delight I was awarded with a barista certification. Now I’m an expert at making coffee; from blending different types to timing the exact minute to make a desired taste.”

“Who would have thought I would be so passionate about coffee. Limkokwing University opened this window of opportunity to me and I grabbed it.”

Future Plans

“I have already made my decision, after graduating from Limkokwing University I want to continue my passion for coffee and become an internationally recognised barista.”

“With the skill set that I am getting at Limkokwing University, I am confident that at the time I want to set my business, it will be a very smooth transition; not only have will I know how to strategically market my brand I’ll also know how to manage my funds as an upcoming business owner.”

“So far I have learned that as an entrepreneur one needs to diversify funds by investing into other ventures or side businesses, this is to provide contingency measures when your business is facing financial struggles.”

“If I do achieve that dream of becoming a coffee barista, I would proclaim that I got my first and best experience at the World’s Most Globalised University!”
