Born and raised in Indonesia, Giovanni Marsela - a Limkokwing alumna from the Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Professional Design (Visual Communication) programme is working as an illustrator for a design agency while developing her project Iberé - a small business creating eco-friendly journals and stationeries. The vision for her project is to raise social awareness about Indonesia’s wildlife and nature.
On what propelled her passion Giovanni explained she did not want to create a brand just for profit but one that will do some good for the environment.
“At first after going back to Indonesia, I tried to find a journal brand that I like because I loved going to stationeries stores in KL back then, but I never found a good one. Almost all the brands they have here are good and affordable notebooks but they didn’t serve any purpose for me. I wanted to create this brand that’s not just for the sake of selling, but also doing some good for the environment.”
Giving insight on contributions her company made so far Giovanni said, “We donated mangroves to be planted at Pesisir Ogotua at Southern Sulawesi and currently adopting Bumi, an orangutan at BOS Foundation at Kalimantan.”
Giovanni credits Limkokwing University for a well-rounded learning experience equipping her with skillset that now brought her passion to life.
“Currently other than this journal brand, I’m working on a series of children’s book with MeBooks Asia. It’s still in progress before publishing but super excited about that!”
