Rachel Sigamani has planted her feet firmly in the drone business in Malaysia. The global drone market size is projected to reach over RM260 billion by 2030 and Malaysia is already recognised for its drone readiness. It ranked 21 by Drone Industry Insights in 2023 with a number of local companies excelling in the business.

Rachel is the founder as well as a certified drone pilot of Drontronix Aerovisual, a notable drone services company.

This graduate of broadcasting and journalism never imagined that her time spent in honing her skills in editing, photography and video production would help her transition into the creative and technical world of drones. Plus, her passion for cinema helped her learn the art of visual storytelling.

At Limkokwing, she seized every opportunity to immerse herself in short film projects to gain invaluable hands-on experience. “Once I enrolled at the university, I explored myself more. That’s when I realised I wanted to merge media with business,” she recalls. At 20, she took the plunge into entrepreneurship and hasn’t looked back since.

Her company, Drontronix Aerovisual, is dedicated to advancing drone technology and providing exceptional value to its clients. Rachel explains, “Our goal is to push the boundaries of what drones can do and offer top-notch services.” Drontronix Aerovisual is not just about business; it’s about making a real impact. The company wants to contribute to economic growth, support environmental sustainability, and enrich cultural experiences.

Rachel envisions Drontronix Aerovisual as a leading provider of digital advertising and industrial solutions, leveraging drone technology, augmented reality, and virtual reality experiences. She aims to position the company as the go-to choice for creative industrial solutions, spanning photography, videography, 360 virtual tours, data operations, and inspections across diverse industries.

Rachel is working on several exciting projects involving construction development and aerial production. One of her recent and most cherished projects was an international collaboration on a Tamil music video. “It was my first collaboration with a team in Singapore. They were special to me as I got to work with my seniors from Limkokwing University.”

Rachel’s experience underscores one of Limkokwing University’s greatest strengths – its ability to foster lasting connections and a robust alumni network. The university’s commitment to hands-on learning and collaborative projects creates an environment where students can forge meaningful bonds with their peers and faculty mentors. These connections often extend beyond the classroom, providing a supportive network that can open doors to new opportunities and collaborations.

Rachel’s cherished collaboration with her Limkokwing seniors on short film projects exemplifies how the university’s alumni remain invested in nurturing the next generation of creative talents. This strong alumni network facilitates knowledge sharing and mentorship. It is a powerful resource for professional growth and industry partnerships, empowering graduates like Rachel to pursue their passions and navigate the ever-evolving landscape of their chosen fields.

Rachel has some wise words for aspiring entrepreneurs: “Discover your passion and turn it into a profession. Fall in love with what you’re doing, and never give up.”
