The world of animation has diversified from film, TV, games and entertainment sectors to many other industries. Digital animation is used for advanced training, simulation and planning programmes, medical diagnosis, interactive learning and architectural virtual walkthrough. Increasingly, works from advanced countries are being outsourced from countries like Malaysia.
The ever growing animation industry has made headway into markets represented by various fields of research such as behavioural analysis, architectural visualisation, and now, even in digital filmmaking. These are some of the areas covered in the design practice.
The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Animation programme explores the fundamental aspects of animation using contemporary approaches. This course will equip students with the fundamentals and principles of classical animation, which will serve as a solid foundation for any kind and style of animation. They will learn the history, style and culture of animation as well as the scriptwriting, narrative and storytelling skills required throughout an industry production pipeline.
Students will also explore digital animation techniques using 3D and vector graphics software, as well as video and special effects in creating stunning visuals for their animated projects. They will also learn the writing skills necessary for the research and development of animation.
The outline of the programme concentrates on all stages of the production process, similar to the workflow practiced by professionals from related industries. Students will undergo a series of hands-on professional training to develop their skills in an industry-based learning system.
