Both Seyed Pedram Mirsadeghi and Farzaneh Addollahi, students in their second year of Diploma in Fashion & Retail Design, were radiating with excitement after securing both the first and second positions respectively, beating out 10 other finalists who were also vying for the prestigious award. Seyed Pedram Mirsadeghi came out on top in first place and was awarded a trophy, certificate and RM 3,500 in cash; while Farzaneh Addollahi followed suit coming in second, receiving a certificate along with RM 2,500 in cash courtesy of the Bumiputera Designers Association.
Thrilled with his achievement, first place winner Seyed Pedram proclaimed with delight, “It’s a great feeling to know that all my hard work and effort has paid off. This was an amazing platform for me to showcase my skillset and talent. The concepts of our respective collections were based on our personal interpretation of current international fashion trends. I selected ‘Impossibility’ as my theme. I was striving to achieve a level of complexity in my collection that would impress an audience which might not be expecting such developed craftsmanship to come from a young fashion student.”
Farzaneh credits the committed and inspiring lecturers of the Fashion and Lifestyle Faculty for the rigorous training and guidance which helped set her on track towards winning one of the most sought-after awards of the competition. Farzaneh, who created a collection inspired by an Edvard Munch painting ‘The Great Scream in Nature’ said, “Our tutors were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the process of preparation. Our learning process involved a lot of time that was spent intensively on thorough planning, theory, and garment development. Fashion is an infinite circular zone to me which I’ve positioned right at the centre, no dimension exists in this world, no limitation, I have complete faith in my fashion.”
