A charismatic leader, patriotic & visionary
In life, trials and tribulations surface to hone character so we may learn the values of compassion, humility, patience, dedication, perseverance and every other attribute that describes the perfect human being.
Rare is the one who faces sorrow, fear, danger, anger and disappointment without losing sight of his goal in life and still retain the noble qualities of humility and compassion.
Such a one is Pakalitha Bethuel Mosisili who grew up in a land locked far away in the high mountains of Southern Africa, called Lesotho, Kingdom of the Sky, among a people, proud of their centuries-old culture and resilient in the way they faced life.
He has wanted nothing more than to be able to help his people, build for them a future where every Mosotho has the means to live to the fullest, and where every Mosotho can live in a safe, secure and crime-free society.
He feels very strongly that given the means his people will rise above their differences to build a nation that will be strong and tough to face the challenges of the future.
In May 1998, after a long, hard and dangerous political journey, he took oath as the fourth democratically-elected Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, and, in the 12 years that he has governed, he has brought sweeping changes.
From the oldest citizen to the unborn Mosotho, he has introduced policies to reduce poverty, build peace and stability, provide better healthcare and improve education.
Rooted in the overarching objective of poverty reduction, he seeks to improve the nation's human resource base, employment, income generation leading to wealth creation and food security among a host of other challenges faced by the nation of close to two million people.
