Global Classroom students take a Warner Brothers Studio Tour

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is a behind-the-scenes tour which immerses guests into the world of film-making and the Global Classroom students got to experience it first-hand.

The Studio Tour initially focuses on the Harry Potter film series which has made the Studios its home for over 10 years but also gives an insight into some of the industry techniques that were used to make the wizard world come to life.

During the Studio Tour, students had the opportunity to see:

  • The Great Hall at Hogwarts
  • Professor Dumbledore’s magnificent office
  • Distinctive props from the films including the Nimbus 2000, Knight Bus and Hagrid’s motorbike
  • The cobbled streets of Diagon Alley, including Ollivanders Wand Shop, the Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, Flourish and Blotts, Gringotts Bank and Eeylops Owl Emporium
  • Original sets including the Gryffindor boys dormitory, Gryffindor common Room, the potions classroom and Hagrid’s Hut.

Students learned how the film’s creatures were brought to life using green screen technology and animatronics.

A Creative Multimedia student, Ivander R Sulaeman, was impressed to see how the studio produced the Harry Potter blockbuster movies, “It was nice and exciting to see the settings and how they used green screen in post production to deliver the incredible images we get to see in the cinema. It was extremely useful to me as I would like to work in this industry after I graduate.”

Shalini Balasundaram was thrilled when she arrived on the site of the Warner Bros studios as this was truly the highlight of her trip in London, “I was excited to see how they did the animations. It was stimulating to witness how they brought the Harry potter story to life through design, which is exactly what I expected to take back from this trip to apply it to my degree projects.”
