After wowing an international audience with an exhibition that gave guests a tantalising peek into how timeless traditional elegance meets moderm chic through colour texture and form at 10 Spring Gardens, London SW1A 2BN, the crème de la crème of Batswana designers raised temperatures in London with their hot designs at a fabulous fashion show hosted by Limkokwing University London Campus in collaboration with the Botswana High Commission in the United Kingdom last weekend.
The first of its kind show featured five Batswana designers who held their own down when representing their country in the inaugural ‘International Fashion Showcase’ earlier on. And these were UK based Beryl Phala of KhuKhuz which uses a mixture of traditional Shweshwe fabric combined with modern western designs to create a vibrant and sleek feminine silhouette, Thato Tlhangwane, Botho Chalebgwa of BotoCy, the talented duo of Gertie Motopamele and Kutlwano Mogojwe of the immensely popular Black Trash, Buhle Mguni, an accessory designer and stylist with Tswana Lyric, which showcased his Tumiso collection, a fusion of modern jewellery and African culture and of course Limkokwing’s own Creativity in Motion line.
Thrilled by the huge success of the trendsetting catwalk show piece where Botswana’s shapely sauce posts from the UK based modelling agency, Boikanyo Model Extraordinaire wowed guests in sensational designs, Botswana Deputy High Commissioner, Mabedi Motlhabani who was part of the project coordinators said: “We feel proud of this achievement and the opportunity to promote Botswana Fashion at this high level.”
