Following last week’s visit to eight old folks’ homes in Seri Kembangan by a dedicated team of young Limkokwing student volunteers and staff, the University also brought the joy of Founder’s Day to another four Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU) centres in and around the Klang Valley.

Led by their Team Leader Shiva Kafil, the Limkokwing volunteers - comprising students, interns and staff members – demonstrated once again the spirit of the University in caring for the less fortunate members of our society. They carried hampers and Limkokwing T-shirts to present to the happy residents of the respective OKU centres; Persatuan Kebajikan Chen Ai OKU, Damai Disable Person Association, Society for the Severely Mentally Handicapped Selangor and Federal Territory, and Handicapped And Disabled Children’s Association Of Klang Selangor. Warmly accepting the items, they expressed their appreciation for the late Founder’s spirit of generosity.

For Ms Hang Weng Fong, Administrator at Society for the Severely Mentally Handicapped (SSMH), it was a special moment as he recalled Tan Sri Limkokwing’s involvement in the founding of the centre.

“Our Society for the Severely Mentally Handicapped has been around since 1984 since it was founded by the late Tan Sri Limkokwing. We are very happy and appreciative of Limkokwing University for paying us a visit here; it really means a lot to us. I believe it’s very important to raise awareness about the severely disabled community and it would be great for people to come and see the children and get to know more about them.”

Overwhelmed by the presence of the Limkokwing representatives and their cheerful interaction with the OKU residents, Ms Phang Xue Mei, President of Chen Ai OKU gushed with appreciation and gratitude.

“Thank you for all your donations to Chen Ai OKU. We appreciate your contributions to making a huge difference in the ordinary lives of our less fortunate ones here.”

Mr Murugeswaran Veerasamy, President at Damai Disabled Person Association Malaysia thanked Limkokwing University for the visit and support during these difficult times.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dato Tiffanee Marie Lim and Limkokwing students for their generosity and contribution of hampers to Damai Disabled Person Association Malaysia members. The hampers will be distributed to the needy members accordingly. We truly appreciate the support and visit during this Difficult time.”

Lastly,  Mr Morgun S/O V. Nadesan, Founder & Chairman at Handicapped And Disabled Children’s Association Of Klang Selangor thanked the Limkokwing team for supporting the centre and organising activities for the children.

“We Persatuan Jagaan Kanak Kanak Ekliptik take this opportunity to thank Limkokwing University. Our children were so happy to meet your team and enjoyed all the activities your team organised for them. Thank you and may God bless you.”
