Limkokwing University held the Omani Art Exhibition at the International Gallery on 11 Mac.
Omani Art Exhibition featured artworks that portray the life and culture of the Omani spirit. This exhibition presented over 30 works by three artists from Oman namely, Said Ali Al Alawi, Al- Suhad AlBusaidi and Tahira Fida.
Attending the exhibition were Oman Ambassador His Excellency Janab Alsaid Fakhry Alsaid, Director General of the National Visual Art Gallery Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Najib, Sultanate of Oman Embassy Cultural Attache’ Dr. Khamis Saleh Al-Bulushi, University Sains Islam Malaysia Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Dato Dr Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan, Kuala Lumpur Oman Embassy Deputy Head of Mission Riyadh Maki and Oman Embassy Military Attache Colonel Humoud AlSawafi.
For Tahira Fida, the exhibition enables artists like her to express their own culture and history while overcoming language barriers.
“By giving us this space, Limkokwing University has allowed students to learn more about the Omani culture,” she added.
She explained that her art describes Omani people’s lifestyle through visual images.
Through her artwork, she emphasises the importance of women empowerment, architecture history and opportunities for artist to be recognised for their art.
Said Ali Al Alawi added that his artwork, which was inspired by the people from his home country, enabled him to present his country’s culture to Malaysia.
“This exhibition allows Malaysians and Omani to establish connection between different cultures,” he said. “This gives people new experiences in regards to Islamic Art.”
Limkokwing University emphasises creativity and innovation through multicultural exposure in its educational approach. The University participates in various exhibitions, events and activities to provide industry exposure and network opportunities.
