Malaysia Retail Chain Association set to partner up with Limkokwing University

A delegation from Malaysia Retail Chain Association were welcomed at the Cyberjaya campus on 6 March 2018, for discussions on a possible collaboration in the areas of branding, designing and training.
The delegation was led by the Association’s President, Dato’ Garry Chua.
Upon arrival, the delegation were given a full tour of the Presidential Library where they were exposed to local and international achievements of the University and its Founder and President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Limkokwing.
“We believe Universities and Colleges play a very important role in promoting the healthy expansion of the retail industry in Malaysia, and Limkokwing would be a great place to initiate future projects simply due to the creative and innovative learning here,” said Dato’ Chua during the meeting.
Interships
The first collaboration that the Association was interested to embark on was getting students from Limkokwing University for internship programs.
“Preparing and educating students on this issue will reflect the future of the retail industry in Malaysia and abroad,” said Dato’ Chua.
One step further
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Limkokwing said organising a “Retail Festival” on campus in collaboration with the Association would be something new and would eventually help many people, especially the younger generation understand the importance of retail in this country.
Dato’ Chua said many activities currently revolve around branding, creativity and eye-catching design, which was why he strongly believes that working closely with Limkokwing University would bring about positive development to the retail industry in general.
First of its kind
Tan Sri Limkokwing mooted the possibility of setting up of an MRCA Retail Innovation Academy under the wings of Limkokwing University, which would set new standards for the retail industry in Malaysia - the “First in the Country and First in the World”.
“We need to understand that creativity makes a difference in almost anything. It is important to understand the consumers needs, and then build an atmosphere that will make them to come back again,” said Tan Sri Limkokwing in concluding the meeting.
