Limkokwing University announced that it is in partnership with the UK Accreditation Services for International Colleges (ASIC) to develop a skill based certificate under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme on 28 April 2017.
TVET is a programme that comprises of formal, non-formal and informal learning for work-related education. The TVET enables students to acquire knowledge and skills from basic to advanced levels across a wide range of institutional and work settings within a diverse socio-economic context.
This industry-relevant programme will provide students with the opportunity to transfer from vocational to academic programmes. The programme will require institutions to devise new assessment forms for industry skills to be developed alongside the academic programmes.
It will enable countries to develop much needed industry-related skills among its workforce to fuel economic transformation.
This announcement follows the appointment of Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing as the TVET UK International President. The concept of TVET education reinforces the efforts of the United Nations Academic Impact team which Tan Sri Lim is a member of.
