13 October 2017
Success is not an easy venture, according to T-Systems Malaysia VP of IT Operation, Americas & APAC, Andreas Truls during the Industry Talk held at Limkokwing University on 14 September 2017.
As a Regional IT Executive, Andreas has 19 years of experience with 17 years in a leadership role. He has extensive experience in designing and implementing scalable growth strategies that deliver increased shareholder value in the outsourcing industry.
Students from the Faculty of Information & Communication Technology and Faculty of Business Management & Globalization were given the opportunity to learn through his personal experiences as a leader at the Industry Talk held at the Cyberjaya campus.
Andreas has led large technical and service delivery teams of over 1,000 people from 6 countries, with a proven record of accomplishment in Complex Infrastructure Service, Cloud Transformations, Data Centre Consolidation and SAP Application Operations.
His knowledge has enabled him to perform strategic planning exercises, set up a global operating model, manage accounts of a complex IT infrastructure, ensure service delivery and operation excellence, and implement financial and people management programmes across the region.
“You cannot climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pocket,” Andreas explained.
Students need to take the initiative when starting their careers to explore their own potential.
“Take the risk,” he advised Limkokwing students, speaking about the best way to kick off their careers. “If you feel that’s the right thing, do take that risk when you have less commitment.”
At the same time, he also encouraged students to love their work.
“You need to love what you do,” Andreas said. “If you don’t love it, you need to change it. If you cannot change it. Leave it.”
He said success is reflected in the time and energy that has been invested into the work. This is usually achieved by being focused and planning ahead.
Andreas also emphasised the importance of self-learning and hard work. More importantly, graduates must be able to familiarise themselves with the company they want to work for when starting a career.
Also presenting for T-Systems Malaysia at the Industry Talk were ITO Product Manager (Cloud Services), Hung Yee Chan on the challenges of rapid digitisation, and Head of Technical Expert Centre, Vijay Chouhan on business trends and opportunities in vCloud and AppAgile digital ecosystem.
